OP flow-thru knuckle joint deviates a fishing tool or any other tool from the center line. The joint is used for fishing on coiled tubing in tubing while maintaining circulation.
The tool provides deviation of BHA, that facilitates tool fishing (baiting) and retrieval from highly deviated wells. For instance, the knuckle joint can be used to help engage fish lying on the low side of the inclined well or to carry out complete well operations that cannot be performed with a rigid BHA.
The joint consists of two subs, deviating knuckle and retaining screw. Run on tool string, the joint provides a 8 degree deflection from the center line and facilitates entry into sidetrack. The tool is drop-ball activated. Double sealing ensures BHA is packed off during circulation. Compact design has made it possible to complete short BHA that is easier to operate in highly deviated or inclined wells.
